Tornado Buckets


The tornado bucket was created by our drivers returning from delivering disaster supplies. The drivers came back saying: “They are asking for things the Red Cross and the Salvation Army do not have. Nobody has these thing for distribution.”
We did NOT think anything about this until five (5) weeks later when our drivers returned from another tornado with the same story. We said: “Sit down and tell us what they need.” Here is the list for a 5-gallon Tornado bucket:

Tornado Bucket
(To be used within the first 18 hours following a tornado.)

1 Bottle of 8 penny nails (their nails are under debris)
1 Claw Hammer (their hammer is somewhere under debris)
1 Pr. Leather palm-Cloth backs gloves – for fiber glass in debris
1 Magic Marker to mark boxes which room items go
1 Wide Cellophane tape to put the packing boxes together
15 Black Trash bags with draw strings for trash
10 White 13 gal kitchen trash bags with draw strings for ssalvageable items
10 one gallon zip lock baggies for jewelry, makeup and other valuables
1 Box Cutter (opener)
1 Small roll of toilet tissue in a sandwich zip lock bag
1 pr. Safety glasses for hammering tarps, wooden strips, on roof
6 Clear large clear plastic bags to cover blown out windows
1 Shirt pocket notebook, pencil & sharpener (For when you have time to sit down as a family and make your “to DO List”
3 Tampons or pads in a snack zip lock bag
Flashlight & Batteries separate
Insect Repellant

A Self-addressed postage paid envelope in the bucket for a thank you note coming back to you. Place this in the bucket.
